A lot of artist are still focused on making their living here in the states. Overseas money in the music industry is bigger than money inside the United States. When The Group Disagrees

The Score (album)Image via Wikipedia Being a group can be a challenge when you are an artist, because share and share alike it the key word among the group. Band members feel like they should get the solo part and everyone should understand. Writing songs can be a mess cause no one can agree on titles and concepts for the songs being created. I know you have heard the stories of how groups have broke up like N.W.A, The Fugees, Danity Cane, Good Mob and many other groups have fallen victim to music industry strife. So, whats the point to this blog, well the point is that even though you may be in a group you must learn how to compromise to get whats best for the group. If tensions grow high in the group due to management problems, money, or public realtions then bow out gracefully.

The Big Three Performance Rights Agency

Are you familiar with the big three performance rights agencies ? Ascap, BMI, and Sesac are the big three performance rights groups that you have to become a part of inorder for you to get your songs published and licensed by the public. I have been a member of ASCAP for about fifteen years. Do You know what it takes to get in with the performance rights agency?

Inorder for you to get on with agency like ASCAP you have to have performed in a licensed ASCAP venue and have the club owner sign off on paper proving you did perform there along with the clubs i.d. for so that ASCAP can prove the validity of the club. As for as BMI goes Im not sure what their requirements are but they I think are not as hard as ASCAP is in becoming a member.
